| The animated conducting gestures were created
by the Department of Media and Technology, University of Saskatchewan. This swinging motion is called Shakui (Shah-kwee). It is classified as an Into-Point motion because the baton accelerates into the beat point. By varying the rate of acceleration a conductor can show the articulation and dynamic of the sound. Note that in these animations the rate of the acceleration in the before-Point motion is the same as that of the deceleration in the after-Point motion for each of the three tempi. It is more usual to have the rate of accleration be faster than the rate of deceleration. |
